Jo Bohannon-Grant, M.D.

Dr. Bohannon-Grant was born in Santiago de Cuba and emigrated to the United States in 1962. She has been in practice since completing her dermatology residency at Medical College of Virginia in 1989.

Dr. Bohannon-Grant’s family settled in Hopewell, VA.  She was Valedictorian of the  Hopewell High School  Class of  1976.  After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from the College of William and Mary, she received her MD from MCV where she graduated in the top 10% of her class and received the distinction of Alpha Omega Alpha, the highest academic honor among graduates of United States medical schools. She studied both pediatrics and dermatology at MCV and also served as Chief Resident.

She is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Bohannon-Grant was the first dermatologist to introduce lasers and microdermabrasion to Richmond. She pioneered CO2 laser skin resurfacing, intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy, and laser hair removal in 1995, and microdermabrasion in 1998. In 2002, her office was chosen as one of only 138 National Training Centers for teaching Botox® techniques to other physicians and was designated a National Center of Botox® Excellence. More recently, she was chosen to be one of only 13 Virginia physicians to introduce the new filler Juvederm™. She has also been named “Best Dermatologist” by Richmond Magazine and by Style Weekly in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 2016, 2017 and 2018!

Dr. Bohannon-Grant and her husband, Win Grant, are happy empty nesters with 3 children, two grandchildren and two beloved cats.
